1. Wall-Mounted Ceramic Basins

Wall-mounted ceramic basins are the most common types of wash-basins available. They are fairly inexpensive and are very easy to install. Wall-mounted ceramic basins do not require a separate table or counter to hold them in place since they are attached directly to the walls of your bathroom. There are many styles and shapes of wall mounted ceramic basins that you can choose from. Some of the more elegant ones are priced higher. Wall-mounted ceramic basins most often come in white.

2. Table-Mounted Ceramic Basins

Table-mounted ceramic basins are also very common and come in various shapes and sizes. They are easy to install in your bathroom. Simply add a counter sturdy enough to mount the wash-basin and place the basin on top. Counters where these types of basins are mounted can be made of wood, metal, glass, marble or granite. Table-mounted ceramic basins mostly come in white. These types of basins create a luxurious and modern look which suits a large variety of bathroom styles.

3. Coloured Ceramic Wash Basins

Coloured ceramic wash basins are similar to the wall-mounted and table-mounted ceramic basins mentioned above, except that they come in different colors. Some come in a single color while others come in a combination of colors and patterns. Coloured Ceramic Wash Basins are increasingly used in powder bathrooms. Bright and attractive color basins also find various applications in kid’s bathrooms as well as dining areas.

4. Marble Wash Basins

Marble wash basins are mostly made of cream or black Italian marble. Special tools polish and shape slabs of marble into exquisite wash basins such as the Nadia Wash Basin, which is placed on top of a counter. Marble wash basins complement luxury houses and apartments which make use of marble flooring and wall-paneling.

5. Onyx Wash Basins

Onyx wash basins are table-mounted basins that are made entirely out of onyx. Onyx is a translucent and radiant stone which is characterized by warmth and incredible depth of color. Onyx wash basins such as model 9010 are incredibly luxurious and very hard to find. White Onyx basins are much more rare and expensive compared to yellow onyx basins.

6. Stone Pedestal Wash Basins

Stone Pedestal Basins are free-standing and do not need to be mounted on a wall or placed on top of a table. Stone pedestal basins are made from large blocks of marble or onyx stone. Some pedestal wash basins such as Song-Blu also combine materials such as marble and Balinese teak wood. The Asura Pedestal Basin is an ideal choice for its combination of elegance and simplicity that exudes an air of zen. Onyx Pedestal Wash Basins are translucent and can be lit using yellow or white light. Stone pedestal wash basins are usually more expensive and are increasingly being used to create a ‘wow factor’ in luxury powder bathrooms and dining rooms.

7. Resin Wash Basins

Resin basins are made of an innovative material that combines transparency, lightness and colour and have a very high resistance to scratches and wear. Available in three vibrant colours – wine red, crystal purple and sky blue, resin wash basins give to the bathroom a unique and innovative look because of their smooth and statuesque shape. Resin wash basins from the Aquant Prisma Collection add a pop of color to modern bathrooms.

8. Wooden Wash Basins

Wooden wash basins are made from bamboo wood which is compressed using high pressure and heat in order to create a unique wash basin design. Most wooden wash basins are made to be table-mounted and are completely water-proof. A special type of resin and varnish is applied to the wood once it has taken the shape of a basin so that the wood retains that shape and the water won’t get in the wood while you are washing your hands. The techniques used to create these basins are similar to those used to make furniture for yachts. A lot goes into making striking wood wash basins like those in Aquant’s Wooden Basin collection. Think beyond ordinary wash basins to enhance your bathroom interiors. Choose a wash basin which makes a clear design statement and is the focal point of your bathroom or powder room.
